Colds Suck.

Hello, loyal fans! I’m back!

Sorry to leave you in suspense all week, but I was toiling through the hell of…colds. All the colds.

And, while there are definitely worse things for a family with small children to catch, a cold is still really annoying.

Especially when you, the parent, catch it.

As a parent, there is no sick break. You can’t just go lie down and sleep for eight hours.

You have to muddle through the day, hopped up on all the cold meds and caffeine you can find.

And, if your family is anything like mine, you all get it in succession.

The toddler got it, was miserable, then started recovering just as I caught it.

So we’ve been cooped up in the house, trying to give her the rest her little body needs, and, just as she’s getting antsy and energetic again, I get knocked down, myself.

And who likes running errands and walking to parks and even standing up when they’re sick?(Pictured: me, looking pathetic and never standing)

So, we stick to the house again, setting the recovering toddler on edge, and inching closer and closer to mommy’s last straw.

But, eventually, mama gets enough sleep to recover, takes everyone outside, and we all live happily ever after.

Until the baby gets it.

And, if you’ve ever had a baby with a stuffy nose, you know what that means.

Sleep, I hardly knew ye.

The moral of the story is that sometimes being a parent kinda sucks.

Sometimes we have to suck it up for the good of the family, and just go for the damn walk, even when we feel like cutting off our noses.

That’s why, tonight, I’ll be wining with some Malbec to attempt to counteract all this whining I’m doing.

Bear with me, everyone, and I’ll be back to comedic gold and words of wisdom before you know it. 😉
